Abstract :
The author presents both the theory and a computer model for providing a stocked-spares optimization analysis which can be used for an electronic system with some simplifying assumptions. This program can be used on any system which would normally use the cumulative Poisson distribution function in a sparing analysis for a given probability of adequate stocked spares. The individual components comprising this system are considered to be a large number of electronic modules, each with a constant failure rate. These modules are specified as in MIL-M-28787 (General Specification for Electronic Modules). In this scheme, the total combined effect of all unique module types together comprises the overall probability of mission success
