Abstract
In this paper, the design of current control parameters for active power filter applications is discussed. The conventional design techniques and the use of genetic algorithms are compared. Attention is focused on reducing the computational requirements associated with control technique and also on improving the performance of the current control. Simulation results show that GAs provide a better alternative to the conventional techniques, producing a good current controller design and, equally importantly, carrying out the design with very little user interaction.
