Abstract
Preliminary results are presented from a study being undertaken to define a comprehensive and integrated manpower, personnel, training, and safety (MPTS) assessment system for use during the development and acquisition of US Air force systems. The first step of the study is to identify and model the MPTS decisions that are made in the weapon-system acquisition process (WSAP), when they need to be made, how they are interrelated, and who must make them, After the MPTS decision modeling activity is completed, the study turns to the identification and evaluation of the tools and databases that can be used for MPTS analyses for Air Force weapon systems in the near term. These tools and databases represent the state of the art in this field and should provide meaningful information to the analyst who must make many of the decisions
