Abstract
This is a technical-sociological paper with a drop of politics thrown in for good measure. A great deal of this paper is derived from personal experience. The paper explores the impact of technology on the lives of disabled people and society in general. It also relays statistical information regarding the frequency of various impairments, how such people are currently wasting their skills and how indeed many people who acquire disabilities are forced out of employment with the consequence of the loss of their knowledge simply because of the lack of awareness on how to utilise adaptive technology. I also take a look at the economic consequences of the above to individuals and employers. All of which is why technology for the disabled matters to you
