  • Abstract
    On the basis of introducing smoothing criteria of the surface, the principles and characteristics of the common surface smoothing analysis methods (surface curvature method, illumination model method) are studied. Taking a wheel cover of a tractor as an example, by using the surface smoothing analysis methods, surface smoothness of tractor modeling is analyzed and evaluated by shape analysis function of freestyle in CATIA. The result confirms that surface smoothing analysis methods can effectively analyze the quality of surface smoothing with displaying of a graphical terminal screen and meet consumers´ visual sense requirement to product appearance.
