  • Abstract
This paper propose a novel methodology to produce constant output voltage and frequency by using a switching mechanism that implement pulse width modulation to control a matrix converter with variable input voltage and frequency. In this scheme, for a full input cycle, input voltages are considered to have constant magnitudes. In this period, the voltage gain is computed and then modulation matrix has been formed. This process repeated for every cycle, hence as the frequency or voltage magnitudes change, a new modulation matrix is calculated for the constant output frequency and voltage magnitude. The proposed approach is a competitive solution for VSCF distributed generating application such as wind-turbine and micro-turbine application. Simulation results using MATLAB Simulink for inductive and resistive loads are produced and presented. Good agreement between the experimental results and simulations shows the validity of this method.
