Abstract :
There has been significant interest in recent years on the interaction of electromagnetic fields with biological tissues for health, diagnostic and therapeutic reasons and also the optimum design of antennas in close proximity to the body such as those found in mobile phones. It is therefore necessary to devise suitable broadband models of the dielectric properties of biological materials which may be used in time domain simulations for analysis and design purposes. This paper details model parameter values for biological tissues and shows typical simulation results for a human head in the vicinity of a radiating half-wave dipole.
