Abstract :
Telematics, a union of telecommunications and informatics for the transport sector, is expected to revolutionize the automobile industry. However, it is still affected by high costs and the problems of unreliable networks. The advancements in agent-based systems along with their benefits of autonomous operations and distributed intelligence have served to enhance telemetry operations and can be particularly useful for telematics in terms of costs as well as enabling robust applications. This paper presents the architecture, implementation and benefits of the agent-based SL telematic system. In addition, optimization algorithms such as exhaustive search, genetic algorithms, simulated annealing, tabu search and ant colony optimization are explored, applied and evaluated to optimize dynamic telematic systems.
