  • Abstract
    A smart sensor based on fiber optic gyroscope (FOG) is presented, which can measure rotation velocity and realize feedback control at the same time. The detection scheme of the smart sensor is developed with digital signal processor (DSP) and field programmable gate array (FPGA). In the smart sensor, both of the interference signal demodulation and feedback control algorithm are processed in a single DSP. The smart sensor has been used on the common remotely operated weapon station (CROWS) system for experiment, the result of which shows that the sensor can measure the rotation speed of the platform and generate a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal to control the torque motor.
