Abstract :
The scenario based design methodology presented here provides a systematic framework for configuring and optimizing the hardware, the software and the user interface for a multimedia communications workstation. A prototype fax based workstation that would be acceptable for many engineering applications is used to introduce this design methodology. The procedure for implementing and optimizing this multimedia communications workstation is described and a generalized set of user interface guidelines for the workstation is presented
