Abstract :
This paper proposes an interleaved tapped-inductor boost converter (ITBC) as a candidate for applications requiring higher power and voltage gain. It is a topology resulting from the combination of a tapped-inductor boost converter and interleaved boost converter (IBC). Design equations for the converter are presented along with the procedure for the selection of major components. Power loss and efficiency analysis are initially carried out by MATLAB simulations. SIMetrix open-loop model is then generated for further design verification and analysis. Performance is analyzed in terms of power losses and efficiency. Simulation results for efficiency versus duty cycle from MATLAB and SIMetrix are plotted and compared.
