Abstract
This paper describes the general design of a high-speed induction motor. Special focus is given in explaining how the main obstacles for designing this kind of machine were resolute and, with more details, how the patented rotor is built. A general overview of the magnetic bearings operation applied to this kind of machine is given as well. We shortly describe the choice of the inverter to drive the high-speed motor as well as its topologies.
