Abstract
In this work a field oriented control (FOC) method is used, in combination with a multilevel inverter, in order to control the speed of an induction machine. A three level diode clamped inverter (DCI) is used, instead of a cascaded multilevel inverter which is the usual solution. A direct stator flux oriented control scheme has been implemented in order to achieve fast and accurate control. Also, the use of the control system to eliminate the impact of the DC link voltage unbalance on the torque of the induction machine is examined. In order to investigate the performance of the proposed system, a detailed model, in SIMULINK, has been developed.
