  • Abstract
Location information is an important enabler for context aware applications required by next generation networks to provide personalized services. On the other side location knowledge is essential for some of the network main functions such as geographical routing, coverage management and power saving. Mobile devices containing a number of communication standards are able to exploit a heterogeneous infrastructure. This paper describes the proposed research work aiming to improve cooperative positioning performance in heterogeneous wireless networks. Goal is to identify a complete solution able to adapt to a variety of scenarios. Exploiting heterogeneous communication links will further improve positioning accuracy and localization coverage.
