Abstract
Wood is an orthotropic material, characterized by nine elastic stiffnesses. Ultrasonic techniques offer the most rapid way to characterization of this anisotropic material. An accurate estimation of wood mechanical behavior requires simultaneous views of its structure and wave propagation phenomena. Wave parameters are affected by wood structure which act as a filter. This interaction sharply reveals the anisotropy of the material
