Abstract
Internet sellers need guaranteed payments for goods and services. Buyers need protection from misuse of their financial accounts. Credit cards dominate the Internet payment world, but merchant fraud is rampant and cardholders are scared. This paper explores emerging protocols and technologies that are being developed to eliminate card fraud and Internet payment methods that will compete with credit cards.
