Abstract
A NASA-wide space communications architecture working group has recommended that the Apollo-era deep space network large antennas be replaced with arrays of small antennas. We view the DSN antennas as nodes of an emerging end-to-end networking structure. In this note, we discuss plans and implementation status of ground and spacecraft components of the next generation DSN.
