Abstract :
Cogeneration systems will play an increasing role for the future energy supply. The cogeneration of heat and power in a combined process (CHP) saves primary energy resources and combats the climate change. To store peak electricity in the form of heat, CHP technologies can be combined with renewable power systems. Thus cogeneration systems represent an essential part of “Smart Grids”. The paper describes the energy data management and the controlling system of a municipal utility including different cogeneration systems connected to a district heating network. The paper demonstrates the tasks and objectives of the energy controlling system. The results of the controlling process are used to increase the efficiency of the generation process. The related optimization aspects are presented.
