Abstract
Using a neuron model which differs from traditional ones in that individual neurons possess internal structure, we can construct a network having higher dynamical flexibility. From this point of view, we propose a network which has the ability to retrieve not only a sequence of patterns but also their rhythms. In other words, the duration for which each pattern is presented and the duration of each resting period can be independently adjusted to arbitrary lengths. The network is a deterministic system in which neither delay nor noise is required. The elements constituting the network are bursting neurons modeled in a relatively simple way. We confirm the excellent retrieval performance of the network by numerical simulation.
