  • Abstract
SITG is an information system developed in order to give support to the data generated by a bill of materials, a part routing, the characteristics of machines and a master production schedule. It incorporates an interface for the generation of usable files for the TGIP application-tool for the application of group technology for production systems design. The case of a manual and numeric control lathes manufacturing company is described. As the company works under order and according to the specifications of the client, the problem of defining the “production standard” is approached, in order to define the group of parts to consider in the application of the group technology. Finally an introduction to the definition of the parameters of resolution to introduce in TGIP are carried out, specifying the outputs that were obtained in the cited case
