Abstract :
In order to enhance the reliability, dispatch efficiency and management level of power grid, it is very important to develop an intelligent decision support system for power system operation. The power system is a complex interacting network; advanced agent technology provides significant potential contribution to help human operators making the system robust. This paper presents an innovative multi-agent architecture of decision support system for the power system operation. Its functions and decision-making progress are also described. The multi-agent system is divided into three layers: the decision resource layer, the communication facilitator layer and the function agents layer. Each agent has its own knowledge base that comprises all the data and know-how to carry out its task and to handle interaction with the other agents and its environment. Hence, the theory of complex system management, the method of information collecting and knowledge discovery, the theory of power system, the experts´ experience and powerful computer processing capability are integrated strongly into a multi-agent based man-machine cooperating system. Hence, the system will assist the dispatcher to analyze the power system operating status and make control decision quickly and correctly.
