Abstract
The authors present a stability result for a decentralized adaptive controller applied to a multivariable linear plant. Robustness is achieved by running the estimators for the loops in parallel with dead-zone functions which take account of the interactions. The essential stability condition is that a certain matrix be an M -matrix. This restricts the interactions to be small relative to the stability of each loop
