Abstract :
In urban traffic signal optimization, the length of vehicle queue, waiting for green signal, is regarded as a performance index (PI). However, pedestrians are reluctant to waiting for green signal without person specially assigned to manage pedestrians in developing city, such as Xi´an. To the signal optimization problem of domestic urban traffic with pedestrians´ noncompliance, a hybrid optimization algorithm is developed. The PI includes the length of vehicles queue and the number of pedestrians breaching signal. The number of pedestrians breach is estimated by a Monte Carlo method. The simulations are conducted in the condition of heavy traffic demands. The validation results indicate that the proposed method is able to improve the traffic condition for weak colony compared with the accustomed control method.
