  • Abstract
    Adding stations in existing intercity railway line is one of new research fields on passenger station location selection. In reference to the multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) of location selection evaluation of existing intercity railway passenger station, firstly it determines the number of stops that needs to be added by passengers investigation; secondly, five indexes such as local economic development degree and layout coordination degree between alternative and existing stations are established; thirdly, in order to evaluate the alternatives conveniently by experts and express experts´ evaluation information well and truly, triangular fuzzy number is introduced in this research. TOPSIS is introduced into this paper after an Euclidean distance method was proposed to calculate the distance between two triangular fuzzy numbers. According to the concept of TOPSIS, a closeness coefficient is defined to determine the ranking order of all alternatives by calculating the distances to both the fuzzy positive-ideal solution and fuzzy negative-ideal solution simultaneously. Finally, the order of alternatives is achieved in light of closeness coefficient, and the new stations are selected according to the order. This method has provided the scientific foundation for the decision-making in the location selection of passenger station along existing intercity railway line.
