Abstract
Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta are China´s three City Concentrated Areas, or CCAs, whose intercity transportation demands are also the greatest. To meet the great intercity transportation demands, many expressways, high-speed railways and intercity railways are being constructed or planned on the major corridors such as Beijing-Tianjin, Shanghai-Nanjing and Guangzhou-Shenzhen, etc. This paper studies three intercity corridors´ transportation characteristics, analyses the planning and technical-economic advantages of expressway and railway, forecasts the passenger and freight volumes in the future, and also gives proposals for intercity transport development on intercity corridors.
