Abstract :
The paper describes some initial results from software developed to characterize propagation channels and communication systems. The results presented are for simple geometry of a street canyon in a line-of-sight microcell. The received field was represented as a phasor summation of the contributions of up to ten rays due to specular reflections from the side walls and from the ground. Complementary contributions due to scattering on random objects were added up to in-phase and quadrature components of each ray. Computer-based simulations of the propagation over the channel were then performed. The results indicate that fast fading due to scattering may affect the data link performance considerably
