Abstract
The determination of the cut-off characteristics and field distributions of arbitrarily shaped waveguides is of primary importance in many applications. In this paper a full-wave analysis of arbitrarily polygonal section waveguides is presented. The analysis is very effective being based on the analytical regularization of the problem, achieved by means of the factorization of the correct behavior of the electromagnetic field at wedges. Only few expansion basis functions are needed in a Galerkin scheme, and the computational time is kept low thanks to an analytical accelerating procedure. Only the cut-off frequencies are presented here, but the field distributions can also be evaluated.
