Abstract :
Bit-error-rate (BER) analysis of an asynchronous band-limited direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) system in the presence of multitone jamming (MTJ), multiple-access interference (MAI) and additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) is presented in this paper. The analysis is based on the characteristic function (CF) with the improved Gaussian approximation (IGA) approach. We assume coherent detection in a slow and flat-fading channel characterized by generalized-K distribution. The spectrum raised-cosine (SRC) and Beaulieu-Tan-Damen (BTD) pulses are used in the analysis and their BER results are compared under various scenarios of MTJ, MAI, fading and shadowing. It is observed from the numerical results that the BTD pulse shape has better BER performance than the SRC pulse in the presence of MTJ, MAI and various types of fading and shadowing conditions.
