  • Abstract
To obtain the high power density, Interior PMSM which has higher rated speed and wide driving areas is in a demand. Recently, PMSM, the structure of which is a composite of bonded NdFeB magnet and soft magnetic-powders core, has been developed. It is possible to produce Inset type PMSM even though it is small. This paper discusses the drive system characteristics of the Inset type PMSM from both theoretical and experimental aspects. The paper demonstrates that the motor affects the wide-range driving area which is the same as the conventional Interior PMSM and the efficiency is also improved. In addition, this paper proposes the optimum control method of the motor, which employs two types of control methods that are changed depending on the motor speed. The method affects improvement in efficiency and driving area of the motor.
