Abstract
Many proposals how to secure vehicular networks have been made in the literature. In this paper we address the security requirements existing in a Vehicular Network (VN) and present how to set up and implement the security architecture in a vehicular network node. Thereby, we take into account fully decentralized services as well as centralized Telematics services relying on a server infrastructure. The suggested system concept is a holistic approach providing security for all requirements and all system layer components. Besides security we also look into privacy aspects of a vehicular network node. Moreover, we suggest how privacy management has to be integrated into the node architecture to be effective. In addition, we briefly outline the backend infrastructure needed to use the node security architecture concept.
