Abstract
This paper presents an adequated framework for a management system. This framework is based on the different models that were defined by the International Standards Organisation (ISO) and the CCITT M3010 TMN architecture. It identifies two different layers in the architecture of the management system: the specific management blocks and the computing support platform. The computing platform is at the base of the actual research and products in network management. The main challenge of management standardization is to develop conventions to support integrated management of heterogeneous networks and technologies. This platform will permit one to handle this heterogeneity in order to provide the level of abstraction from the network resources and services and also from the multivendor technology, needed to permit the portability and the openness of the management applications
