Abstract :
This paper treats video coding from the viewpoint of data structure. It discusses the key attributes of an efficient or ideal data structure for the encoded information. A novel method, Conditional Quadtree Data Structure for video coding algorithms was realised in an attempt to achieve the desired data representation for various modes of coding operation without excessive overhead information. The proposed method renders a significant gain in compression ratio that is on average 25% better than a fixed block size algorithm and the Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) is only a fraction of a decibel lower than with a fixed block size algorithm
