Abstract
A tunable one-dimensional plasma photonic crystal is obtained by using a dielectric barrier discharge with two liquid electrodes. It can be used to dynamically control the propagation of the electromagnetic waves ranging from GHz to THz. The dispersion relation of the plasma photonic crystal is studied by solving a Maxwell equation using a method analogous to Kronig-Penney´s model. The photonic band modulations of the plasma photonic crystals are studied when changing the proportion of the plasma and dielectric material.
