Abstract
Operations, administration, and maintenance (OA&M) planning for new global telecommunications services is discussed. These new services cover the whole spectrum of offerings, ranging from private line services to complex networks including switched services. The principles, objectives, and information exchange requirements applicable to global and multicarrier service operations planning are stated and discussed. It is recommended that TMN´s (the telecommunications management network´s) X interface be implemented between carriers of OA&M networks. It is noted that implementation of the TMN X interface by telecommunications carriers will allow them to offer fully global telecommunications services for a growing number of multinational business corporations
