Abstract :
A linear contactless power transmission system is proposed as an alternative power supply to mobile loads used in harsh environments. Such a system comprises a core with secondary winding sliding along an extended primary winding. The transformer primary winding is the most limiting component in the system and formulas to optimize the design for different applications are given. Experimental results for a 5 m, 15 kVA sliding transformer are presented
