Abstract :
The author modifies an earlier result on the desirability of the use of switched detectors over fixed-structure detectors to include the dependence inherent in the noise. He notes that if a reliable burst-estimator is unavailable, the performance of the switched detector deteriorates considerably. He shows, however, that an improved switched burst detector, modified to reflect the uncertain estimate, is still desirable
