Abstract
A C∞ control system in Rn is considered. By definition, a singular trajectory is a singularity of the input-output mapping. A study is made of the genericity of the following two properties: (1) there exists no high-order singular extremal; and (2) all the singular trajectories are normal. It is shown that there exist singular trajectories of order >2 in a case of codimension 1. It is proved that for a generic system all the singular extremals are of order 2 and normal
