Abstract
A novel least square (LS) estimation method for frequency-domain channel parameters is proposed for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. It inserts character pilots with constant envelops in time domain to avoid influencing the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of systems caused by the inserted pilots. Moreover, it improves the estimation accuracy significantly with much lower computing complexity by designing the appropriate character pilots and the pilot multiplex format. Simulation results have demonstrated that the proposed algorithm is more effective than the conventional LS method for practical applications.
