Abstract
Various techniques and geometries have been introduced for size reduction of microstrip patch antennas. Fractal technology makes antennas improved obviously in structure, frequency bandwidth, sidelobe capabilities and so on. This paper reviews its concept and presents an evaluation on a novel spherical conformal microstrip patch antenna using fractal geometry. The simulated results indicate that the size of antenna can be reduced obviously; the radiation bandwidth can be increased at the same time.
