Abstract :
Microstrip resonator with it´s high Q character is always known unsuitable for broadband designing .Efforts were made to use it in broadband equalizer designing. In this paper, a improved branch microstrip resonator with a thin-film resistor loading is analyzed, and a good matched broad-band microstrip equalizer using this structure is developed. The influence of the the resistor on the microstrip resonator is investigated through numerical simulations and experiments. By loading a thin-film resistor in the branch resonator, an adjustable quality factor and attenuation are achieved. High frequency structure simulator (HFSS) is used to show them. According to the different value of the thin-film resistor, four different resistor loaded branch resonator are used to realize a 12 GHz broadband microstrip equalizer which matchs the TWTA´s output curve respectively. The fabricated figure, the simulation results and the measured data are also given. The simulations and experiments results show that this structure is quite suitable to construct broadband microstrip equalizer.
