Abstract :
In this paper, a new hybrid monopole dielectric resonator antenna is proposed. Two different methods of impedance matching and dielectric shaping are applied to enhance the antenna performance. Both simulated and measured results show clearly an ultra wide-bandwidth operation of more than 10.5 GHz ranging from 1.5 GHz to 12 GHz. Furthermore, the radiation pattern of the proposed antenna is nearly omni-directional over the frequency operating bandwidth.
