Abstract
A wide rectangular slot antenna electromagnetically fed by a microstrip circular patch for achieving wide bandwidth in radar applications is proposed to operate at 3 GHz. Transmission line matrix method, TLM-SCN, is used to obtain numerical results on the return loss, input impedance and radiation pattern of such antenna structure. Effects of various diameters of the circular feeding patch and patch position relative to the centre of the slot are considered. For VSWR of 1:2 some 52% bandwidth at 3 GHz is easily achievable.
