  • Abstract
A silver electrode modified by Ag2O nanoparticles was prepared and its application to the electrochemical determination of glucose was studied. Ag2O nanoparticles were prepared by reduction of AgNO3 with Na2O2. They can be efficiently immobilized on the surface of a silver electrode. It showed that the Ag2O nanoparticles could clearly enhance the electron transfer process between glucose and electrode. Linear sweep voltammeric measurement of glucose at the chemical modified electrode indicated that the oxidative peak currents of glucose were linear to its concentration ranging from 2.0×10-8 to 1.0×10-3 mol·L-1 with the detection limits of 7.6×10-9 mol·L-1. The direct electrochemistry of glucose was also studied by cyclic voltammetry. The method has been used to detect glucose in blood serum samples.
