  • Abstract
Electromechanical properties of MPB composition (Bi0.486Na0.426K0.12Ba0.028TiO3) in the system of BiNT-BiKT-BT have been investigated. The conventional processing method has been used to prepare the samples. Dielectric behavior of the MPB composition indicates a phase transition at about 150°C. High temperature polarization measurements also confirmed the phase transition, which represents antiferroelectric behavior at 160°C. A relatively high d33 of 183±5 pC/N, a tanδ of 2.1%, a dielectric constant of 750, a Curie temperature of 295δC with thickness and planar coupling coefficients of 55%, and 35% have been obtained. High piezoelectric coefficient with higher thickness coupling coefficients makes this composition, a promising candidate as a lead-free piezoelectric ceramics.
