  • Abstract
The auxiliary resonant commutated pole (ARCP) power converter was recently developed to essentially eliminate switching losses in high-power high-switching-rate power converters. Various converter topologies utilizing the ARCP technology are presently being developed for military shipboard and aircraft applications. The given technology also has significant potential in commercial applications. In this paper, a detailed computer simulation of an ARCP-based electromechanical actuation system is described. The simulation includes the high-frequency switching transients of the ARCP bridge as well as the slower electromechanical transients of the electromechanical actuation system. Sample studies are provided which illustrate the steady-state and dynamic performance characteristics of the selected system configuration
