Abstract
By combining the ideas of token rings in computer networks and daisy chain serial bus arbitration, a simple cost effective hardware arbitration approach for bus connected multiprocessor systems is described. The proposed approach not only maintains the advantages of low cost, minimized interconnections, and flexibility to add or remove processors from the system provided by the daisy chain technique, but also achieves the capability of implementing various dynamic and parallel priority schemes. The details of the circuit designs are also presented
