Abstract :
This work presents an efficiency improvement of a simple maximum power point tracking (MPPT) configuration, achieved by current feedback. The output current provided by the photovoltaic (PV) panel is used as the signal controlling the duty cycle of the PWM converter that regulates PV panel power output. The system performance is analyzed with the help of an accurate PSpice model of the PV cells developed for this application and experimentally improved. The results, both simulation and experimental, show that the proposed improved MPPT circuit is highly efficient. Since this is a simple, rugged and low cost system, it is ideal for applications in isolated locations in the less developed countries.
