Abstract :
An algorithm for estimating the translational motion parameters of a target from its stepped frequency inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) signatures is presented. The algorithm uses the frequency response of the target to compute an image focus indicator while avoiding two-dimensional Fourier processing. The image focus indicator reaches the maximum when the echo is compensated with the actual translational motion parameters of the target. Processing of simulated ISAR signatures shows that the method is effective.
