Abstract
The methodology and results of a project to determine the feasibility of designing and developing a system for automatic development of computer graphics software are considered. A major goal was to allow the personnel without programming experience to develop new aircraft display concepts and produce the source code necessary to simulate these concepts on any one of three laboratory graphics engines. The resulting proof-of-concept system, the Simplified Automated Layout Center (SALC), is discussed. The discussion covers the SALC system architecture, software, menu structure, and operation
