Abstract :
A 24 GHz voltage-controlled oscillator designed in TSMC 0.18 mum CMOS technology is presented. By using the current-reuse topology, power consumption is reduced by half as compared to that of the conventional LC-VCO. Accumulation-mode MOS varactor is adopted to attain wider tuning range. A noise filtering is introduced in the VCO to enhance the phase-noise performance. The simulated phase-noise is -108 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset with 1.8 V supply voltage and 8.2 mW power consumption. The attained FOM is -186.
